WORKSHOP 1: Plan a Business Simulation (3 hours: 09:00 – 12:30)
Presenter: Mr Trevor Shihundla (Sisu Enterprises)
Business simulation creates real-life business scenarios in a risk-free environment that allows the candidates to engage with realistic business challenges in a way that will keep them intrigued throughout.
They will relate to the materials being discussed and in that way corporates achieve more impactful learning experiences for employees and increase their level of satisfaction, commitment and productivity – during the learning process and beyond. Using business simulation games in training is a highly promising approach that holds the potential to motivate employees and to secure the development of lasting synergies. Our experienced trainers have coordinated countless successful business simulations with a wide variety of established multinational companies.

Trevor is an African Male. Currently employed at the University of South Africa as an Adjunct Academic. A well experienced Industrial Engineer with 10+- year history of Teaching, Research, Business Process Improvement and Operational research in Pharmaceutical, Automotive, Consulting, Rail and Academia.
Trevor completed his national diploma, bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, completing with a final mark of 75% (cum laude). As part of his master’s research, he developed a framework for remotely monitoring railcar (train) brakes using sensors with the aim of ensuring safe travel and minimising accidents on railway lines. In addition, he has also published two (4) conference papers. As a researcher I noticed his ability to write scientific manuscripts as well as his confidence to present his findings to local and international conferences. He was involved in research projects such as Incubation project for the Rail Manufacturing Centre for Entrepreneurship Rapid Incubator (RMCERI), Manufacturing, Engineering and Related Services Sector Education and Training Authority (merSETA) Chair for Intelligent
manufacturing team member, sponsorship coordinator for the 30th CIRP design conference, Holistic and business game as scenario analysis for new venture creation and representing South Africa at the 7th BRICS Young Scientist Forum under the category of Artificial Intelligence. Mr Trevor Shihundla was the Community of Practice (CoP) nominee representing Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) at the Entrepreneurship Development in Higher Education (EDHE) from 2019-2020.
Trevor is also currently pursuing a PhD in Industrial Engineering, working closely with CSIR (Council for Scientific and Industrial Research) and TETA (Transport Education and Training Agency) doing. As part of professional development, he was employed as a part-time lecturer in the Department of Industrial Engineering at Tshwane University of Technology. As a lecturer he led students to success in Russia’s 2026 Case-In Engineering championships. He currently mentors’ final year students at the University of Pretoria. It’s because of these qualities that he has achieved so much in the shortest possible time since joining the research team in the Department of industrial engineering.
WORKSHOP 2: Simulation Modelling: Benefits and Applications (3 hours: 14:00 – 17:30)

Simulation modelling has become one of the most powerful tools for analysing complex systems and supporting data-driven decision-making. From manufacturing and logistics to healthcare, transportation, and smart cities, simulation allows organisations and researchers to test strategies, evaluate alternatives, and optimise operations in a risk-free virtual environment. This free webinar will introduce participants to the fundamentals of simulation modelling and explain why it is increasingly used as a strategic tool for solving real-world problems in both industry and academic research.
During the session, we will explore the importance of simulation modelling, its key applications across industries and research domains, and the advantages it provides compared to traditional analytical approaches. Participants will also learn about the simulation modelling process, compare different modelling approaches and software tools, and receive a practical introduction to building simulation models using AnyLogic. The workshop is designed for postgraduate students, researchers, engineers, analysts, and industry professionals interested in learning how simulation can improve decision-making and operational performance.

Dr Giovani Monzambe holds a PhD degree in Industrial Engineering; he is currently a lecturer at Cape Peninsula University of Technology and the founder and principal consultant of MG Simulation Consulting. He is passionate about simulation modelling, data analytics, mathematical programming, and the entire field of systems and process optimisation.
